Our mandate is championing the rights of women/girls domestic workers

DWN Establishes a strong network of champions to promote and protect the rights of domestic women workers

To be able to promote and protect the rights of women and girls’ domestic workers in Mombasa County, DWN trained community women/girls’ domestic workers volunteer champions who in return have established five (5) networks in their communities to champion for human rights protection, reporting and redress for women domestic workers. The champions are now supporting in the monitoring, reporting and addressing cases of women domestic worker’s rights violations at the community level.

The County Commissioner’s Office (Administration), CSO’s and KUDHEIHA committed to support the rights of women domestic workers and undertake the fast-tracking of issues relating to women and girls’ domestic workers which has high rates of abuse in Mombasa County.

The outcomes included;

1. Increased knowledge and awareness on human rights protection and labour rights, reporting and redress for women domestic workers among the women domestic workers volunteer champions and stakeholders.

2. Multi stakeholders training has progressed towards identification and ensuring decent and safe spaces for women domestic workers.

3. Continuous awareness creation and sensitization on rights of women domestic workers through communities/grassroots women domestic workers volunteer champions.

4. Fast-tracking cases of women domestic worker’s rights violations and GBV cases in the communities and building synergy and strong network to support quality and need-based services to women domestic workers.
