In 2016, Dhobi Women Network in partnership with Kituo Cha Sheria,secured a grant from French Embassy Kenya and implemented a skill based training. 20 women domestic workers were taken to catering and curlinary skills and housekeeping training for a period of 3 months and later graduated where all of them secured jobs in homes and hotels as professional cooks and house keepers. They increased their earnings and improved livelihoods.

This has increased the number of the network in securing well paying jobs as they are also trained on labour rights,how to negotiate for better pay, contracting,gender based violence and psychosocial support. The organization has been training women from informal settlements who works as domestic workers on basic law and sharing of information on what to do Incase their rights are violated.



In 2018, Tax Justice Kenya in partnership with Dhobi Women Network organized women domestic workers from different informal settlements and sensitized about tax and how the countries debt affected them in one way or another. The leaders were also learned on how to unite and claim their civic space and engaging in governance as well as participating in the development agenda at the grassroots level and national level.
